Our SchooL
Our school was opened by the National Society in January 1874 and has remained a Church of England Primary School. Since its opening, the building has been extended several times and now provides 7 spacious teaching spaces, a library, two areas for small group work , a large school hall and a school kitchen. To the front of the school is a hard-surfaced play area, and to the rear, a garden and playing field on the hillside.
All our classrooms are warm and welcoming; they are carpeted and well furnished. Teachers use display boards to show children’s work and to provide a reference for children during lessons. Interactive white boards have been installed in all classrooms and children have access to chrome books and ipads, when appropriate.
There is a friendly and purposeful atmosphere in our school. Staff and children work hard to create a caring community.
We enjoy close links with St John’s Church and other local schools.
