Netball champions 2012!

Netball Champions 2012

On Tuesday 27th March the netball teams (A-team and B-team) from St John’s went to Ryburn Valley High School to play in the Sowerby Bridge large schools’ tournament.

The A-team consisted of Hannah Stott (captain), Chloe Helliwell (vice-captain), Chloe-Beth Pharaoh, Caitlin Wood, Jamie Dann, Jack Brooks and Thomas Dann.

First of all the A-team played against Barkisland and we won 10-2. Then we played Sacred Heart, and we also won that game 10-5. Then the A-team got through to the final against Gleddings and so we won 10-4! So the A team won the large schools trophy and also a gold medal to cherish forever J.

There was also a B-team that played in the netball tournament, and they included of Emma Haley (captain), Hannah Bentley (vice-captain), Mollie Arnold-Jones, Taylor Czuba, Lula Beasley, Myles Hoyle and Luis Bathgate. Unfortunately, Emma Haley trapped her thumb in a car door the night before the competition and Louis Davies-Johnson broke his collar bone so could not take part, however Daisy Silkstone and Jasmine Edwards stepped in for them.

The B-team also played against the Gleddings but lost 9-0. Then they played Ripponden and also lost 10-1. Finally they played Bolton Brow and thankfully won 8-2!

We would like to give a massive thank you to Mrs Wasyliw and Mr Dewick for coaching us and also thank you to all the parents and carers who supported the teams throughout the tournament.
