What a terrific success this day was. To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the whole day was set aside for a variety of activities.

Volunteers who remember the coronation, visited the school to share their memories of the 50s with the children. Other activities included cake decorating and crown making.

It was a real pleasure to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale
who led our whole school assembly and presented the children with medals.

The weather was extremely kind and allowed us to have a whole school picnic with parents. The day finished with some Maypole and country dancing.

It was a wonderful day, and one that should live in the children’s memories for a very long time.

Some of our children said:

“We had a brilliant time, I really liked the May Pole dancing.”

“I enjoyed making my Jubilee wreath”

“I enjoyed icing my bun and eating it”

Thank you to Catherine Hankinson for all of her hard work in helping getting this organised.
